Swiping left to online dating.

We live in a fast-paced, sex-crazed world. The concept of dating has shifted from marrying a neighbour to a drive-thru takeaway. Efficiently at our hands at any hour of the day, we are able to order our 'ideal' person. A simple swipe, closing and opening the options of love and a potential partner. Instead we use this automatic thumb action to depict who our next one night stand will be. Charisma, personality or basic human kindness is not a filter option. So, we are basing our future on the amount of topless or half naked pictures we see on some ones profile.

As we are flicking through selfies, we are unable to ignore our bias minds- "Oh damn they don't have straight teeth" such a low-brow way to sift through people. Imagine if we lined these men or women physically present to hear our insults, having to justify why we didn't say yes. The human soul avoids rejection, these platforms feed of the egos of its users. Learning how to navigate the online world of dating takes a lot of personal awareness, understanding the reason you are single is not because of your profile, it is not a result of your first image, it's sadly the society with exist in.

Suddenly we have thousands of single people in our radius on a 15cm brick. People we may never consider to approach romantically if we were to see them in the street. Grabbling with the algorithm of life and messing with the natural nature of finding a partner can't always be a success story. Be aware of the speed bumps if you do chose to join the drive-thru and make sure you take time to check the bag is full of what you ordered before you drive off.
