The checklist of life.
Representing the societal-set milestones. Even though this checklist is for ‘life’, these stages are seemingly meant to be achieved by the age of thirty.
It seems this societal norm has put unnecessary weight on the shoulders of today’s young adults. The cookie-cutter timeline creates a sense of embarrassment and shame for those who are yet to be married, build a home or even find a partner.
Similar to a kettle, the closer people are getting to the boiling point of thirty, they feel the need to speed up. In doing this, are we getting into situations we would otherwise wait longer to commit to?
Each element of life is precious, finding love, having children and being successful. But who set this lifestyle as the idealistic end?
Being successful in life doesn’t mean meeting each milestone before thirty or even at all! Be present in your own life and throw away the pressure checklist and write your own goals. These goals don’t need to be achieved, they are just there to remind you of the limits you want to be pushed.
Do not rush into life with the creeping feeling of limited time. You are in charge, live life as though it’s timeless.
