Two types of Herpes
  • HSV-1 Oral infection
  • HSV-2- Genital sores
HSV-1
  • Mainly asymptomatic

  • Blistering sores/ulcers around the mouth

  • Transmitted through oral-to-oral contact

  • Transmitted through oral-to-genital contact

HSV-2
  • Lifelong and incurable

  • Ulcers and blistering sores around the genital region including anal area

  • Fever, body aches, swollen lymph nodes

  • May experience sensations of mild tingling or shooting pain in the legs, hips, and buttocks before the appearance of genital ulcers
